history

In many ways not too much is known about Tina’s life, however, what we do know is enough to give us a decent picture of it. She was born the oldest daughter of a young Jewish couple and by the time she was toddling had a younger sister, Queenie. The first few years of the girls lives were spent seemingly happily--Parents tucking them into bed, dancing around the room, dinners, and storytimes. This childhood wasn’t something that would be allowed to last.

Sometime before either girl reached school age their parents would die of Dragon Pox. While it’s possible they went to their grandparents, mentions both by the characters and actresses imply they didn’t have anyone else and more likely ended up in an orphanage (the scenario I prefer, in this case). Tina would in most ways give up her childhood in order to take care of her younger sister. As they grew older Tina would become the provider and caregiver, but her role as an adult was something more of the father while Queenie was the mother. From a young age Tina prioritized her sister over herself.

When she was eleven she was sorted into Thunderbird house at Ilvermorny-- The house for adventurers, though it was a bit odd as to why then. She kept distant and was always somewhat odd, but she never let it bother her. Instead, she worked for the grades to become an Auror and was in training by the time she graduated. At this point, the two girls returned to their old family home and their roles would shift into what they are today.

Tina excelled as an Auror but one thing would always get her into trouble: Her inability to watch someone in trouble. A month after her twenty-fifth birthday she would come across a Second Salemer’s meeting where she’d find a boy being abused by his mother. Without any thought for herself she attacked the woman causing a huge scandal and the loss of the job she loved (and she’s lucky it was only that job she lost).

The events of the movie happened three months later in early December. She hadn’t stopped watching the boy she’d protected and his family and, in doing this, comes across the suspicious Newt Scamander. In a night her entire world is flipped upside down and she meets a man she comes to have some sort of affections for, gets sentenced to death, escapes that death, and duels the man who trained her only to find him impersonated by none-other-than Gellert Grindelwald. A whirlwind of a night only bolstered by the fact that the boy she wanted to protect, Credence Barebone, was being used by Grindelwald and would subsequently meet a fatal end despite both hers and Newt’s attempts (at least that’s what she currently believes).

After this Newt promises to return with a book to which Tina is delighted for. Tina comes from watching Newt depart after she leaves the docks.. She still has much of her story left to tell, but eventually, she is known to marry Newt and retire in Dorset.

PERSONALITY STUFF

abilities

Tina is an Auror within Harry Potter canon. Aurors, especially in the United States, are admired and considered the elite of magical law enforcement. They not only handle investigations and regular law-breaking, but they’re also the force that handles counterterrorism and are the first to go into war. Because of these they are given strict tests on their character to ensure they won’t “go dark” or are unable to perform their duties. When they were in school Aurors also had to have top grades and then pass strenuous examinations and a hefty training period. Very few people become Aurors. It’s a fairly impressive feat that comes with some difficult work.

At the most basic witches and wizards are able to brew potions, perform charms, use transfiguration, and defend themselves with defensive and offensive spellwork.

POTIONS: This is a craft that will not likely be able to be used in game, but is important to note. As an Auror Tina would have had to have top grades in this subject as well as know how to create various ones today. This can scale from potions to change appearance to those that with a single drop can kill an entire room. Without the specific ingredients needed, however, she would be unable to make these potions
.
CHARMS: In many ways this is your basic “day-to-day” spellwork. These spells levitate objects or summon them. They can even be used to make someone laugh or inflate. There’s a vast number of spells that come in all different forms. Like Potions a student must master Charms in school to become an Auror. Some charms (such as the summoning charm) cannot be used on living things.

TRANSFIGURATION: This subject is the one where you change an object into another. One might be able to change a matchstick into a mouse or simply change their hair color. Transfiguration is unable to change someone into another person or age them, these are both the work of potions. However Aurors need to know it when they go undercover as it’s the quickest and less time-restricted method to change their appearance.

DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS: Arguably, this is the subject that Aurors need to excel at most. This is how they’re able to protect themselves and fight against others. This subject also goes hand-in-hand with Dueling which Tina is a more than capable combatant of.

APPARATION: Apparation is teleportation with a few hitches. One: You have to be entirely focused and concentrating on your destination otherwise you could lose a limb (apparation accidents have been known to be fatal). Two: It is limited to perhaps several hundred miles, so while hefty isn’t able to go across the world. When it comes to Darrow Tina will only be able to apparate within city limits. Finally: A person can only apparate to a place they know.

As a note: Each of these abilities has their own limitations. A person cannot create something out of nothing-- It must exist somewhere. So when someone is summoning something it’s being lifted from a store somewhere. If they transfigure something to be larger, if it becomes too large, it may collapse and so-on.
